Getting to Melbourne

Flight Times

From London, you can fly direct to Melbourne – the journey takes around 20 hours. There are also indirect flights, making the journey longer but considerably less expensive. From North America, you can catch a direct flight to Melbourne, as well as a number of single-stop services. Excluding stopovers, flying time to Melbourne is around 20 hours from New York or Toronto, 18 hours from Vancouver, or 15 hours from Los Angeles. From New Zealand, there is a range of flights available to Melbourne, with those from Auckland taking approximately three-and-a-half hours.

Melbourne is within an easy flight to many Asian destinations. Flights from Singapore take approximately seven and a half hours, from Bangkok nine and a half hours, Ho Chi Minh City eight hours, Hong Kong nine  hours and Tokyo ten and a half hours.

Melbourne Airport is located approximately 24km from the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Airport Transfers

Easy access is available from the airport to the city centre via bus and taxi. Please refer to the Melbourne Airport website for further information.

Sky Bus

Offers a shuttle bus service from the airport to Melbourne CBD and city hotels. This service operates 24 hours, 7 days. Buses run every 10 minutes throughout the day and every 30-60 minutes overnight. Tickets can be purchased on arrival or online by visiting the SkyBus website.

Melbourne Public Transport

Trams
Most parts of  the CBD and local surrounds are easily accessed by trams. Tram tickets can be purchased onboard – ticket machines are coin operated only. The venue and CBD are located within Zone 1.

Trains
